Q: HOW DO I ADOPT A COMPANION PET?
The first step is to meet our adoptable pets online. Once you have an idea of which pet would best fit your lifestyle and energy level, make an appointment via email firstname.lastname@example.org to come down to the Rescue Center. You will be able to meet and learn more about the pet, and spend some time bonding. Finding the perfect match is so important before you decide to adopt.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION?
A: After we look over your adoption application, we will talk with you about the pet that you’ve chosen to add to your family.
If you rent your home we will need to see a copy of your rental agreement that shows that there are pets allowed as part of your agreement OR we will want to call your landlord for verbal approval before the application is finalized.
If you have a dog at home we may ask that you bring your dog to the shelter to meet our dog before any final decision has been made. We may also want to do a meet and greet at home – this ensures that the animals are safe together.
If you are interested in a large dog or a puppy we may want to perform a home check via Zoom or Facetime before the adoption is finalized.
Q: WHAT PAPERWORK DO II NEED TO FILL OUT?
A:You will need to fully complete an “Adoption Application” in order to adopt a pet. You can fill it out online prior to your appointment or fill it out when you come to the Rescue Center.
